Apple warns iPhone users of dangerous habits that the user does
1 year ago

Some smartphone users do some inappropriate actions towards their phones, thinking that they are normal and simple, but they are actually destructive to the phone and the user.

For this reason, Apple issued a big warning to iPhone users, about the potential risks of some habits that seem harmless, such as putting the phone under the pillow or under the cover while charging, explaining that these actions could cause a fire or an electric shock.

In this context, the writer specialized in technology and artificial intelligence, Alan Al-Qarh, spoke to the website “Sky News Arabia”, about the updates that Apple made on the page “Important Safety Information for iPhone” on its website, which aims to educate users about some “fatal errors” that they should avoid, and which ask them to be more careful about their safety and the safety of their phones.

Apple’s recommendations for iPhone users

According to Al-Qarh, Apple announced 8 recommendations for iPhone users, and confirmed that not following them could result in a fire or an electric shock or damage, which are:

  • Do not put the iPhone that is charging under the pillow or under the cover while sleeping.
  • Do not sleep on the phone or the charger when it is connected to the electricity.
  • Do not charge the iPhone near wet or damp places.
  • Do not touch the charger with your skin when it is connected to the electricity.
  • Do not use chargers that are corroded or excessively spilled with liquids.
  • Keep the face of the phone up when charging it.
  • Keep the chargers in a well-ventilated area when using them.
  • Do not charge or use the iPhone in a potentially explosive environment, such as areas where the air contains high levels of chemicals or vapors or flammable particles.

A common and serious mistake

Al-Qarh explains that one of the most common and serious mistakes among smartphone users, not just iPhone, is putting the phone under the pillow or under the cover while charging, as this leads to an increase in the temperature of the device and increases the chances of a fire, and he points out that Apple did not prevent users from charging the phones at night, but asked them not to put them in places where their temperature rises.

The danger of radio signals

Al-Qarh sees in his talk to the website “Sky News Arabia”, that what drew attention in the warning was Apple’s announcement, that despite the compatibility of its chargers with international safety standards, this does not prevent a fire or an electric shock from occurring, if the users do not comply with the conditions that it set for use.

He added that the company warned that using non-original chargers increases the risk of fire.

He stressed the need for users to stay away from their phones when sleeping, not only when they are charging them, but in all cases, as sleeping next to the phone has serious health risks, due to the radio signals that it emits, when it sends and receives information, from the cellular towers surrounding it.
